What we do
The detail that makes a house look finished
Staircases and woodwork take the most wear and need the most patience. Old varnish and gloss is keyed with a dust-extracted sander, dents are filled, joints are caulked and knots are sealed, then a bonding primer or undercoat and hard-wearing topcoats go on. Spindles are done by hand, one at a time.
Popular jobs include turning dated orange pine stairs into white spindles with a painted or natural handrail, painting stair strings and risers, and refreshing every door, frame and skirting board in the house in one go.

FAQs
Common questions
Can you paint varnished pine stairs?
Yes. The varnish is sanded to give the paint something to grip, any knots are sealed, and a bonding primer goes on before the undercoat and topcoats.
Can we still use the stairs while you work?
Yes. Spindles and handrails don’t stop you using the stairs, and if treads or risers are being painted James can do alternate steps so there’s always a way up and down.
What finish do you recommend for woodwork?
Satinwood gives a modern, low-sheen look; gloss is more traditional and very wipeable. Water-based woodwork paints stay white for longer than older oil-based ones.
